Grindr inventor and President Joel Simkhai promises that Blendr, which forged in the iPhone and Twitter on September 8, is certainly not about hookups, but friendships.
a€?we has viewed social networking and believed that it absolutely wasna€™t actually personal,a€? Simkhai specified in a meeting. a€?With Blendr, the audience is adding a€?sociala€™ into social websites. A person appear at Twitter and you may talk about abstraction, you can’t really satisfy spanking new males. With Blendr there will be no far better strategy in order to make spanking new buddies.a€?
There is certainly reason to be skeptical of Simkhaia€™s revealed feature, considering the fact that Grindr, which guarantee be a€?quick, handy, and discreet,a€? is much more dating website than social media. But Simkhai countries that Blendr and Grindr get really lightweight in common in regards to of intention or purpose: Blendr features a€?evolved from Grindr, they are counterparts,a€? he or she says.
a€?Grindr is mostly about one interest, and that’s getting homosexual,a€? Simkhai stated. a€?that is one several interest. [For Blendr] we introduced a huge selection of hobbies . This might be a relationship programs, this is a gathering tool. Truly for any guy that is 60-year-old desires to perform poker and want to line up guys or chicks of every creation whom could choose have a go with web based poker around him.a€?
Despite Simkhaia€™s said goals for all the program, I have to trust Blendr has actually sometimes already been put-up as, or will living or perish by their success as, a hookup application definitely heterosexual.
